Desktop Denfender 2010 is nothing more then a sham security client that show false and exagerated scan results. After the fake scan is done the user is then prompted to register and purchase the product to remove the results. This program seems to be very similar and in fact related to the Contraviro malware program. This program looks and feel very professional. The purpose of this is to make it more credible. Be aware, this program can do the following:

It will disable many Windows applications, including your Task Manager. You will find your you do not have your computer control anymore.

It will pose problems to your Internet connection, including not being able to update your anti-virus programs, or similar programs. The below methods have been used for years to trick users into purchasing these fake clients. They will claim to be new, free and more. You will be prompted to install or run a small program that is pretending to be something like a video codec but in reality it’s a virus.

This program often times will block many security websites and even applications like security clients. Often times this client disables the real security software on your computer. As to accessing others online, it is also blocked. Others application, like System Restore and the Registry Editor, are disabled once your computer is infected by the rogue program. Desktop Defender 2010 will also modify your browser settings, will show you lots of advertisements and will stays resident in the background.

You should first, rather than believing this fake program, remove Desktop Defender 2010 . To remove such malware you will need to first terminate the running process called DesktopDefender2010.exe.
