Sony’s set to release a Digital Photo Frame in the next month or so, just in time for Christmas. The 7” DPF-D72N/BQ Digital Picture Frame boasts a LCD WVGA video display, has a remote control, has clear and brilliant colors, has a 16:10 aspect ratio LCD, has several playback options, and also has a resolution of 800×480. It will sport 1GB of internal memory to save and display your pics. Sony reports that this digital photo frame can save 2 thousand pictures, which is a whole lot! This Sony digital frame can show 2 image types: JPEG and RAW. Since all digital cameras save in JPEG, then this Sony digital frame will definitely work with all digital cameras!

The picture frame can upload your photos from a variety of memory cards and also by connecting to your digital camera by the way of its USB port. Memory cards that this frame supports are Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Secure Digital (SD), Multi-Media Card (MMC), Compact Flash Card Type I and Type II, and xD-picture cards.

A couple of features include Auto Resizing and Auto Rotation, and these two features will be very handy. What Auto Resizing does for you, is to automatically set the pics for best fit without corrupting the photos. Similarly, the Auto Orientation automatically rotates the photos into landscape or portrait format. With this feature you are able to set up your digital frame horizontally or vertically, but, images are shown much better in landscape.

Additional features include various view modes, a clock and a calendar. When it does hit the shops, you can pay about 150 dollars for this unit.

But, there are some things that are missing in this Sony digital picture frame, namely wireless, video, and audio. While in today’s market wireless is the rule, it is kind of concerning that Sony would come out with this digital picture frame that doesn’t have wireless support.
