Question about home theater speakers and Blu-ray players?

If I bought a Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray player, but wanted to have the Bose Acoustimass 5 Series III speaker system w/ 3-piece subwoofer/satellite speakers for my home theater.

Would I need a separate receiver for these speakers to work?
Or could I just hook them up to my Blu-ray player?
