Do Blu-Ray DVD’s have better picture than a film at a movie theatre?

Blu-Ray DVD's have the highest resolution of any kind of video. But does it also look better than watching a movie on film at a movie theatre?

I mean, if it does, besides the big screen, what would be the point of going out to see a movie if it isn't the best experience to watch one?

All you would need is a home theatre and blu-ray.

But is Blu-Ray better than an actual movie theatre?
