Samsung ML 1500 – A Solid Device

Manufacturers thrive on finding niche markets. Samsung has done just that with the ML1500 laser printer. This printer, which Samsung designed for the home office weighs is a lightweight at 10 pounds but isn’t a lightweight when it comes to printing documents. This small desktop printer uses ML 1500 toner and prints out 12 pages of documents per minute and is fed from a half ream (250 sheets) of A4 paper in the paper tray.

Two connection ports are available on the ML1500. The parallel and USB ports permit a simple and easy connection to the computer. The owner of the ML1500 can not directly connect the ML1500 to a network, however through the utilization of a print server it could be connected in this manner. The setup software enables the owner to connect to both Windows and Linux OS. There is no driver available for Mac users. The setup software is simple and easy to use, allowing the printer to be connected to the computer in a minimum of time.

Many laser printers are utilized for large print jobs. The 250 sheet paper tray in the ML1500 will provide paper for even the largest jobs. Print resolution is 600 X 600 dpi and this resolution provides minimal jagged edges on even the largest font size. The ML1500 will provide adequate text resolution for any font size from 2 – 72.

Finding a toner cartridge is never a problem for the ML1500 owner. Samsung has designed a “one size fits all” toner cartridge for its 1500 and 1700 series laser printers. The printers are shipped with a 1000 sheet ML 1500 toner cartridge ; however, larger toner cartridges are available when the starter cartridge is exhausted.

The ML1500 with its small size is also easy to operate. Software in the PC provides all of the controls for the printer. The only button found on the ML1500 is an on and off switch. The printer is controlled through the computer thus lessening the need for an awkward reach across the desk to push a button or series of buttons on the printer.

The majority of printed documents are done at 600 X 600 DPI. To fulfill this need, Samsung has provided that as the only resolution available on the ML1500. The 600 X 600 DPI resolution when combined with 12 page per minute output will meet the needs of all but the most discriminating home office and ideal for the college student.

The low price of both the printer and the toner and small in size, make the ML1500 is ideal for the home office. The universal Samsung ML 1500 toner cartridge provides an adequate supply of toner and are available through almost any dealer. Should a home office require a laser printer, then the Samsung ML1500 should be a highly considered acquisition.
